The 25th Northern Microcar Rally was held at Darley Bridge near to Matlock, Derbyshire.  Our venue was the Square & Compass, a lovely place with genuine hospitality and great food.  We will return . . . .

Fridays run took us through the villages of Winster, Elton and Youlgreave stopping for lunch at the Druid Inn in Birchover.  The sun was shining, the beer good and the sandwiches enormous!

On returning to Darley Bridge a visit to the nearby Working Carriage Museum at the Red House Stables proved to be an interesting diversion.

Saturdays weather was changeable!  It was overcast when our day started with a visit to Sir Richard Arkwright's Cromford Mills the site of the first successful water powered cotton spinning mill in 1771.

However during our visit the rain started to fall, light at first then when on the road again it turned into a torrential downpour.  It felt as though we were driving through a tropical rain forest rather than the Derbyshire countryside.  We pressed on through the rain amazingly breakdown free for our next stop at Tissington where we visited the Edward and Vintage sweet shop.   As if by magic the skies cleared and we were able to sample lots of the yummy sweets and ice creams in the open air.

Saturday evening was spent in the usual manner - a Tom Quiz followed by the awards ceremony.
