The 26th Northern Microcar Rally
saw us return to the
Square & Compass, Darley
Bridge near to Matlock, Derbyshire.
The weather was
kind to us and those that arrived on Thursday were soon pitched up and ready for
a fine week-end of road runs and camaraderie.
Fridays run took us through the villages
of Rowsley, Beeley and Pilsley to a brief stop at
Ashford in the
Water. Ashford is one of the Derbyshire villages famed for its
Well Dressing, a
tradition said to come from pagan times to give thanks for the purity of the
water drawn from certain wells during the period of the
Our route continued
through Litton and on to Tidswell where we stopped for refreshments at the
Horse & Jockey Pub and a
picnic on the village green.
Afternoon tea was taken in Longnor before returning to Darley Bridge.
Saturday's run commenced in true Micro Maniacs tradition with us getting lost
and ending up in a traffic jam just minutes from the start! The local
residents seemed to take our presence in good heart. The sun shone as we
drove through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Our journey through the
Derbyshire Dales continued on to lunch at
The Lazy Trout at Meerbrook where Tom Watkins our purveyor of fine micro
related merchandise was able to put his sales technique to the test.
On Saturday evening
we moved up the road to the
Three Stags Heads for our evening meal. The evening continued with
Tom's quiz, raffle and our awards ceremony.
