June 2015 Annual Rally

The 26th Northern Microcar Rally saw us return to the Square & Compass, Darley Bridge near to Matlock, Derbyshire.

The weather was kind to us and those that arrived on Thursday were soon pitched up and ready for a fine week-end of road runs and camaraderie.

Fridays run took us through the villages of Rowsley, Beeley and Pilsley to a brief stop at Ashford in the Water.  Ashford is one of the Derbyshire villages famed for its Well Dressing, a tradition said to come from pagan times to give thanks for the purity of the water drawn from certain wells during the period of the Black Death.

Our route continued through Litton and on to Tidswell where we stopped for refreshments at the Horse & Jockey Pub and a picnic on the village green.

Afternoon tea was taken in Longnor before returning to Darley Bridge.

Saturday's run commenced in true Micro Maniacs tradition with us getting lost and ending up in a traffic jam just minutes from the start!  The local residents seemed to take our presence in good heart.  The sun shone as we drove through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Have a look at our journey as seen through the lens of Keith Porter's video camera:

Our journey through the Derbyshire Dales continued on to lunch at The Lazy Trout at Meerbrook where Tom Watkins our purveyor of fine micro related merchandise was able to put his sales technique to the test.

On Saturday evening we moved up the road to the Three Stags Heads for our evening meal.  The evening continued with Tom's quiz, raffle and our awards ceremony.
